Does Your Textile Printing Paste Still Feel Sticky or Crack? This Water-Based PU Resin Combines Softness with High Elongation
Manufacturers of textile prints and thick coatings for footwear materials may have encountered these frustrating problems:
The printed paste remains sticky after drying and causes blocking when the fabrics are stacked. The coating cracks or peels after several washes. In cold weather, it may turn white or break when folded.
There are not many water-based resins that can simultaneously provide softness, elasticity, and wash resistance.
Today, we introduce a waterborne polyurethane resin designed for textile coating and binder applications—Sinograce PU-401.
Soft, Highly Stretchable, and Water-Resistant
PU-401 is an anionic aromatic waterborne polyurethane dispersion that forms a soft, flexible, and breathable coating.
It provides good water resistance and anti-blocking performance, making it suitable for textile systems requiring flexibility, elongation, and abrasion resistance.
Softness and elongation are particularly important in textile printing paste and coating formulations. If the resin film is too hard, it may crack when the fabric is stretched. Insufficient anti-blocking performance may also cause coated surfaces to stick together during stacking.
PU-401 offers a good balance between softness, elongation, and anti-blocking performance.
Elongation Above 500% and Tensile Strength Above 10 MPa
The typical film properties of PU-401 include:
Elongation: >500%
Tensile strength: >10 MPa
100% modulus: >2.5 MPa
When used in textile printing pastes or textile coatings, the resin forms a flexible film that can stretch with the fabric, helping reduce the risk of cracking or peeling during deformation.
Simply put, when the fabric stretches, the coating moves with it and is less likely to crack.
Soft Without Excessive Tack, with Good Abrasion Resistance
PU-401 forms a soft film with good water resistance and anti-blocking performance. It also provides good abrasion resistance and dry-cleaning resistance.
This is important because many soft printing pastes can become tacky or cause blocking when softness is increased. PU-401 maintains a good balance between softness and anti-blocking performance, helping improve the surface performance of finished products.
Where Can It Be Used?
Textile Coatings
PU-401 can be used in different textile coating systems to help the finished coating remain soft, flexible, and breathable while providing good elongation and abrasion resistance.
Textile Binders
It can be used as a binder in textile formulations requiring softness, adhesion, and water resistance.
Safety Glove Coatings
PU-401 can also be used in safety glove coatings to provide flexibility, water resistance, and abrasion resistance.
Other Flexible Coatings
It is also suitable for other coating systems requiring a soft, flexible, and highly stretchable film.

Final Note
Choosing a waterborne polyurethane resin is not simply about comparing individual technical values. More importantly, the resin must be able to solve practical production problems.
If your textile coating or binder formulation requires softness, high elongation, water resistance, anti-blocking performance, and abrasion resistance, Sinograce PU-401 can be evaluated through formulation and application testing.
Actual performance may vary depending on the formulation, substrate, coating process, drying conditions, and test method. Laboratory trials and application tests are recommended before full-scale production.
FAQ
Textile printing paste may remain sticky when the binder has insufficient anti-blocking performance or when the drying and curing conditions are unsuitable. Resin selection, formulation balance, coating thickness, and drying temperature can all affect surface tack.
Cracking usually occurs when the resin film is too hard or does not have enough elongation to follow the movement of the fabric. A soft, flexible waterborne polyurethane binder can help reduce cracking during stretching and folding.
Waterborne polyurethane dispersions with high elongation, soft film formation, water resistance, and abrasion resistance are commonly used for flexible textile coatings and printing binders.
Sinograce PU-401 is designed for textile coatings, textile binders, and safety glove coatings. It forms a soft, flexible, and breathable film with good water resistance, anti-blocking performance, and abrasion resistance.
PU-401 has a solid content of 40 ± 1%, a tensile strength above 10 MPa, a 100% modulus above 2.5 MPa, and an elongation above 500%.
No single resin can guarantee the same result in every formulation. Final performance depends on the substrate, additives, coating thickness, drying conditions, curing process, and other formulation components. Laboratory testing is recommended before full-scale production.
